Spicy Keto Lamb Meatballs with Mint Yogurt Sauce

Spicy Keto Lamb Meatballs plated with tzatziki sauce, fresh lettuce, and lemon wedges.

Some nights call for comfort food with a little attitude—and these spicy keto lamb meatballs always hit the spot. We created this dish on a cold evening when we wanted something cozy, bold, and full of flavor without relying on carbs to satisfy us. The result? Juicy lamb meatballs packed with warming spices and just enough heat, cooled off with a creamy mint yogurt sauce that’s got just the right touch of brightness.

This dish quickly became one of our weeknight favorites because it checks all the boxes: high-protein, rich in flavor, and easy to make. The combination of lamb and bold spices like cumin, coriander, and paprika gives these meatballs serious depth, while the yogurt sauce balances everything with a cool, herbaceous finish. You get that satisfying richness you crave—without anything heavy or greasy weighing you down.

They’re perfect for meal prep or as a crowd-pleasing appetizer if you’re hosting. We’ve served them with roasted zucchini, wrapped them in lettuce leaves for a handheld bite, and even dropped them over a cauliflower mash when we’re feeling fancy. However you plate them, these lamb meatballs deliver that spicy-savory-creamy combo we keep coming back for.

Ingredients
    For the Lamb Meatballs:
  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup almond flour
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for baking sheet or pan)
  • For the Mint Yogurt Sauce:
  • 3/4 cup full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, finely grated
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional Sides:
  • 1 medium zucchini, sliced and roasted
  • Butter lettuce leaves for wrapping
Instructions
    Step 1: Preheat & Prep
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and brush or spray it lightly with olive oil.
  2. Step 2: Mix the Meatballs
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, egg, almond flour, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until everything is just combined—don’t overmix or they’ll get tough.
  4. Step 3: Form & Bake
  5. Form into 16 evenly sized meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until browned and cooked through. Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  6. Step 4: Make the Sauce
  7. While the meatballs are baking, mix together the Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, mint, parsley (if using), grated garlic, and salt in a small bowl. Chill until ready to serve.
  8. Step 5: Serve It Up
  9. Serve the warm meatballs with a generous spoonful of mint yogurt sauce. Pair with roasted zucchini or wrap in butter lettuce for a clean and fresh presentation.

Note

Substitutions & Variations

  • Dairy-Free: Use a coconut-based yogurt for the sauce, and skip the egg in the meatballs (you can sub with a flax egg if needed).
  • No Almond Flour: Use ground pork rinds or sunflower seed flour for a nut-free version.
  • Extra Spicy: Add an extra 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne or chopped fresh chili into the mix.
  • More Herbs: Try dill or cilantro in place of mint if that’s more your style.
